Sometimes you can get decent cheap DVD movies if you find stores in your area that stock closeouts and odd lots from suppliers. Personally, my threshold for price on movies that I will only watch once is $3.00, because you can rent movies for $2 in my neighborhood, so it doesn't make economic sense to pay more than $3.00 for cheap DVD movies that I will only watch once.

However, if I find some really good cheap DVD movies that are less than $10, I will buy them because if the movie is good, it's something that me and my family will watch three or four times over the course of owning it. Sometimes kids will watch a  movie over and over, and if you can find classic cheap DVD movies, they are worth buying simply to have some good entertainment on hand to keep them busy when it's too cold to be outside or for when they get really bored.
